Aya Watanabe is an assistant professor at the University of Fukui since 2013. She teaches English to first- and second-year nursing and medical students at the Medical Campus. She has previously worked at Tokyo Medical University where she first entered the world of English for Medical/Nursing Purposes.
Aya is currently working on a research project to interview foreign residents of their experiences in receiving healthcare in Japan.
She is also working on her dissertation, which is a longitudinal study on young learners' interactional development observed in classroom. Her research interests include conversation analysis and classroom interaction, medical interaction, and interview interaction.
