Ian Willey has been teaching at colleges and universities in Japan for almost 20 years, beginning in Hiroshima, moving to Tokyo, and settling in Kagawa prefecture, where he is now an associate professor at Kagawa University. In 2011 he completed a Ph.D. in sociolinguistics from Hiroshima City University on the topic of medical editing done by English teachers. His articles have been published in such journals as English for Specific Purposes and the Asian EFL Journal. He teaches mainly medical and nursing students at Kagawa University, and has published one nursing English workbook (看単！Easy Nursing English: Nanzando, 2009).
His current research project examines the English language needs of medical doctors and nurses in Kagawa prefecture. He is happy to serve as liaison officer for JANET in order to spread the word about our group and give a boost to English education for nursing students in Japan.
