Richard Eccleston has been at the University of Fukui since 2012. He currently teaches English to first year nursing students, as well as first and second year medical students, and first year engineering students, with a focus on communicative teaching.
For first year nursing students, he is currently using the textbooks "In My Life", to build students' confidence and communicative ability, and "Lifesaver" to introduce students to nursing topics and medical terminology.
Richard is from England, U.K., and after a number of visits, has been living in Japan since 2010. Growing up in the English countryside, he feels right at home in rural Fukui. His research interests include materials development, bilingualism and SLA, and self-directed learning.
